Spencer's Graduation - April 2012 Part 2

Trip down memory lane to the whole meeting place of our love...typical.
Same old story you've heard 100 times. Doesn't mean I don't love it still.
Ok so this is definitely an inside joke that probably just comes of as weird, BUT I'll try to explain. One time Spencer and I were driving to Salt Lake from Provo and as we crossed under the overpass in Provo by the $1 theatres. I looked up, I double took, I triple took and I said to Spencer, "Fart Pants Ritney???" He looked up, "WHAT?" We both busted up laughing. How is it possible? Why would it say that?! And the fact that I read it out loud! Ha. Normally it says "Welcome home Elder Smith" or something. Nope, not that day. We laughed even harder when we realized it most like said, "Happy B-Day Britney" or "We Love Britney" and some kids came around at night and quickly changed it to the chosen "fart parts" before they had to run away to not get caught. Leaving, "Fart Parts Ritney".

Needless to say, that phrase became an Orr family joke and something that was used and laughed about in the oddest of times. Pardon me again if this is weird, but it happened, and it's funny. SO when Brian wrote home from his mission to congratulate Spence on graduating, he asked his mom to tell him "fart pants ritney- bro", which meant it was place on the overpass right before the turn off to Spencer's family's house in SLC. They really did it. They are awesome. As we turned the corner, Spencer did the only reaction you can when you see that, "Does that say fart. pants ritney?!?"
It doesn't make sense, you might think it's ridiculous, but it was Spencer's favorite gift. Even grandma Beth helped with the vandalizing! (But really we ended up having to take it down ourselves due to a cop---LAME. We're hoodlums I guess. That's the type of crime SLC should spend it's time on, or has to).
That evening the family and all of Spencer's grandparents celebrated with dinner at Tucanos. Julie, Spencer's mom, of course brought her own napkins and glitter for the table. Love her. Also our own desert, Spencer's favorite. If you're in SLC area, check it out. It's at Normandy cafe, and it tastes like a Dunford donut that's making tornados in your mouth.
Julie and Reege gave spencer some pocket books on how to get through law school...
Or they are filled with one dollar bills. Leave it to Julie to make anything that's boring (money) somthing so cute and fun. SO cute and fun in fact that it's still in the books on our bookshelves because I can't bear to destroy such a creative thing. I guess it's a good savings acount, them books.
A diploma frame, when the real thing actually comes. I wish graduations were like movies and tv shows where they roll up your diploma and tie it with a ribbon. But no, instead they give you a fancy case that doesn't even have the diploma in it! It actually has a fake one. High school and college. Drag it out as long as they can I guess.
Got him a Coug shirt, BYU frame (to house a photo from our photoshoot in the previous blog entry), and the sassiest most awesome graduation watch--from me.
Listening to the live music at the Gateway.
Brothers just chucklin' it up so I can't take a real picture.
The next day left the boys to golfing and the girls ran errands shopped. Annie needed a spider man costume for dance, which took us to a costume supply store. Kimi and I played dress up, trying on the fanciest ($200) masquarade masks. We eventually got in trouble for having a Harry Potter wand fight.
SERIOUSLY...Why don't we have masquarade balls all the time?

We hit up City Creek for my fist time and spent hours on end being girls. Shopping until our feet and stomachs hurt.
Saw this beauty at Forever 21 where I came to the conclusion that trendy fashion is the worst.
We had lunch at Blue Lemon. I RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. Best food ever. Especially if you're a lady.
My uncle Kyle hooked us up one last time with his beloved Jazz tickets that night. 4 seats, "Row 3" (which is actually the 6, behind the opposing teams bench. We brought our partners in crime Nate and Kimi along for the ride. Before I met Spencer, Kimi was my Jazz partner and we converted her to love those Jazz boys instead of following a pack of certain California boys that robots follow.
They played the Magic that night and of course Dwight Howard was injured. BUT Patrick Ewing is their assistant coach so I hollered to him and he gave me a very manly no-smile nod. "Dream Team" members are always giving me nods. Go USA.
The game ended at 101-101 and went into over time. Great game. We came out victorious.
Meet high five guys. If you're a Jazz game goer then you know who this is. He came and sat in front of us a second and Spencer got too scared to touch him. These are what celebrities look like in Utah.
Coach Stan Van Gundy is a spaz. And short.
Cutiest of all couples.
Sure gonna miss that Utah perk. Dang it. Better get a comfy couch.
So excited, mostly cause I tried to take this mid celebration picture like ten times. NAILED IT!
We ended our long weekend on Sunday as it should be spent, with our feet up.
I love just hanging out with the family in their back yard, look over SLC. Such a great view.
Thank you for tuning into this novel that is Spencer's graduation weekend. It was really fun for us and our last mark on leaving Utah. We had to move on at some point I guess, but it just hadn't really felt like it with that grad bash luring us back in. Thank you all of Spencer's family, especially his mom and dad for making it so special and for the generous gift he was given from everyone.

Mario Jump for SPENCER! Okay!! Congrats cougar grad. Dare you to keep trying to not be a Zoobie

Spencer's Graduation Trip-April 2012 PART 1

Spencer's been out of school for like 4 years now...ok so since Spring 2011, but he walked (per his grandmother's, mother's, and wives wishes) at graduation in April of this year. The weekend was packed with various adventures, memory lane rides, and family fun. And when I say packed I mean... probably NARROWED to 200 pictures shown below:

1am or something pit stop in somewhere Utah

Below starts the beginning of our BYU marathon. Mind you, SJO (Mr. Orr) was pretty anti grad bash. He's just satisfied having a diploma, as most people are, but this needed to be done for a few other's sake (as mentioned). So every picture that was taken, every activity that was done (maybe except all that included food), he was humoring me. I made Provo live up to any corny expectations with all my pic snapping.
We started Thursday in Provo at J Dawgs. The magnet that keeps SJO around and fills him while I pester him with memories.

Spencer did not want to go to BYU's commencement, who does, but I wanted to go/wanted him to. I mean we were there, Elder Oaks was speaking and whether someone hates commencement or doesn't, thinks it's unimportant or important, whatever, how would one know if you didn't go? So with him not wanting to walk in and be bored alone and me not wanting to sit alone I dusted off my blue gear from somewhere and we walked together. It was humorous and funny and memorable. We sure can keep ourselves entertained in any situation and love it. So we did. Pretty sure he decided he didn't care in the end, but at least now he knows :)
Well kind of....
We celebrated at Sakura for all you can eat Sushi with Nate and Kimbo slice that evening
(That's #2 for our food visits on the list of Utah "musts". We'll start counting now)
Friday EARLY morning (8am) was his college's commencement. Spencer was in the Kennedy School of International Studies. Coincidentally it was in our old stomping grounds of campus.

In order to get to his graduation Spencer had to walk the same walk to campus that we dragged ourselves up: eyes closed, hat on head, grumbling, questioning our reasoning; everyday for 3 years together. Ironic? No. Necessary? Yeah. And pretty sweet. Good and bad, happy and sad. Again, my corny andecdotes and memories shared every step up those freaking fracken lame frickin' dumb lame stairs/hill. All smiles this time.
Spencer's thumb down in front of the testing center. "You want me to thumbs down for a pic in front of this building? Oh I won't even complain about that one. Gladly."
Sittin' right by this Mr.
When you graduate in the college emphasizing, studying and emphasizing studying other cultures and the world, you have a fancy fantastic 5-10 minute mariachi band performance (complete with yelps and clapping) and a risque-for-BYU latin dance number that ways saucily awesome. Seriously such a change up and so refreshing. Made it so much fun and so less boring.
(My latin dance number picture---eh)

Uncle Kyle. Words don't describe the man who entertained and hook us up all through our Provo years: Jazz games, plays, fancy dinners. Seriously, thank you Kyle.

He really wants that diploma. It's fine Nate, only like 12 more years.
Yep, I'm that girl. "We need pics of us in our gowns together!" YUP
And I make us kiss. (But really I love this one)
GOSH I am the worst
This is our more natural reactions...the more us celebration
What? You don't always take a back to back at every event?
Orr Sibling love
Orr girls
Basically sums it all up...
The path that was under construction our 3 years at Provo together south of campus. Of course it's finished now....and it's gorgeous. We finally got to enjoy it.
Nate and Kimi's cute place
Bestowing the "Stole of Gratitude" to Aunt V who started Spencer's college fund and sacrificed so he could have a start at school.
And the after grad food choice - Diego's (#3). Classy. For ol' times... Love you Mr. Diego. Thank you for your fattiness.
70 pictures later and you think I'd be done with this all by now. NAH...I'll leave you on a cliff hanger. 1/2 way there.
(Pathetic - It's for journaling sake - you don't have to justify - well maybe - ok fine)
