It took moving to San Diego to get the Orr's to visit us outside of Utah.
I guess I don't blame 'em, but we were 5 hours closer and had actual beds and bedrooms for them in Vegas. Whatever, I am just glad they found their way to us at some point.
I'm glad because it was A BLAST.
A real blast.
They got in town Wednesday night and Spencer gave them a tour of our new digs.
I was in LV watching my sister's kids, so a couple hours later they all picked me up from the airport.
A joyous reunion we had.
We spent the evening catching up on life and making our weekend plans.
Thursday morning we took our time to get the day started.
I had physical therapy early morning and Spence school before the Orr's even arose, so they had their own slow rolling morning to spend.
The parents found their way down to our backyard, the San Diego River, and enjoyed a walk.
Eventually we started what Julie wanted, a day in Spencer's shoes.
It begins with a walk from our apt to the Trolley, crossing over the river on the way.
Cute Miss Annie was a little out of her element on the Trolley ride.
I forget she's 15, from Utah, and hasn't been to any big cities.
Not much exposure so some of the stuff she saw.
Mostly the whole homeless overload of San Diego. And the pan handlers.
It's funny too because the Trolley transit is actually pretty darn nice here.
We all gotta start our exposure somewhere.
We walked from the Trolley to Spencer's school where I gave them a self guided tour.
It was only a little bit silly and embarassing for Spencer.
Luckily, he was never with us, so we spared him humiliation.
Except for when we somehow accidentally (for real I had no idea) stumbled upon his classroom...
Don't worry, we stood there and giggled for like 5 minutes (Richard would have nothing to do with it) and not a SINGLE head turned towards the window.
I guess we're not in high school anymore, or undergrad! Law schoolers are boring.
From there I gave them a walking tour of East Village and downtown.
Which meant we ended up in a little local boutique dressing Annie up like a Barbie doll.
You could buy that girl everything, she's just too cute in it all.
After a small photoshoot...

to Richards relief, we were off to meet Spencer at his favorite lunch place in East Village,
The District, for sandwiches and rejuvenation.

From there a little walking tour of downtown and Gaslamp area, as well as a walk through Petco Park.

From there it was a hop back on the Trolley to Seaport Village.
We have wanted to make our way to all the touristy stops regardless how touristy they are, so it's nice to have actual tourist for an excuse.
When we got there we ended up somehow within five minutes on one of those amphibian water/land bus/boats. We just saw it, wanted to do something in the water, saw Reege's excitement upon seeing it, and we were suddenly on board, ready for the ride.
It was fun to be on the Harbor and seeing the city scape of San Diego.
It was a little bit hazy but...
SO PRETTY.
SO UNIQUE.
We saw lots of pretty landscapes and lots of naval training stuff.
Including tons of seals and learned they train seals and dolphins for the navy.
Google it...who knew!

"I've always wanted to do one of these!"
Once we got our sea legs, we stayed around cutie Seaport Village for the view and some pretzels.
My favorite part of San Diego...besides everything...SUNSETS

After the suns show, we went to Old Town for some quality Mexican.
Old Town is something we could have done a whole day itself, but we just got a taste of it.

It was the spa, treats and sleeps when we returned home, exhausted.
