Whatever I want...cause I can

I've been sick for a long while as of late, which has finally brought me to the point of 7:00pm in bed with an O.C. marathon on my computer. It's lead me to some internet browsing that has not been had for weeks. So now that I'm updated on all your lives, I feel like dejunkifying my brain for your entertainment. I think so many random thoughts every day that I never say out loud. I don't write them in my journal either though, so it's all stuck to my skull right now. Diving right into it...

-On the O.C. marathon I started an hour ago (meaning I'm only on the 2nd episode) I found the quote of a lifetime. You know the part that always plays where Ryan says, "You know what I like about rich kids...nothin'" PUNCH. Well sadly the line before that, the true gold medal winner, gets over looked. Luke says, "WHAT ARE YOU, LIKE SPOKESPERSON FOR GEEKS OF AMERICA OR SOMETHIN'?" And now I'm assured that the years of my life spent dedicated to watching this quality show was not done in vain, nay, not at all.

-My cough sounds disgusting and is making me want to hold my breath for a long time, right now.

-My stake and a bunch of the Las Vegas stakes are teaming up to put on a Mormon Formal. I guess they've been doing it for years now, but it started after I graduated. I think it is the cutest idea. So fun for everyone to be able to go to a dance. For it, they host a big 'dress swap' where they fill a cultural hall with a bunch of donated dresses for the girls to come and pick out for free. They have accessories and even a seamstress to sew the dress and shawls and such. I think it's so great that they put it on, it's a really big event. Well a pass around to donate dresses came by in Relief Society and I realized I still have all of my giant ball gowns collecting dust in my closet. Why? Don't know. Can't figure it out. I basically hold on to the past, check my old room, my pictures are all from high school. So I signed up and I took mine, and all of Lindsey's dance dresses over for the donation. Rid myself, move on. It took me back though and led me to look at my old scrapbooks (thanks again mom for documenting my life for me). It was just a quick look to see what I looked like in those dresses. Bringing me to my next 2 thoughts---

#1 I sure struggled in high school. I must have been pretty secure with myself those days because, dang girl. What was up? I really think that I thought I was pretty with it. I knew how to do my hair/make up/ dress/smile....nah, nope, no way. Especially having the Haley's and Brittany's standing next to me in those pic's really making me stand out--not in a good way. I know I am saying this like I was in high school "SO LONG" ago, but it does feel like it. It's been just about 6 years since I graduated, meaning it's been almost 10 years since I started high school.

Thank goodness ten years permits a lot of time for change.
We won't get into all the deep stuff that leads to, which my brain has also pondered(Oh lil Rach, you thought you knew what you were getting yourself into after BHS. All your friends and you would ride off into the sunset. In some ways sadly, you were wrong...it's not the same. And yet in so many other ways that outweigh the ones you once thought important, it happily isn't. There are still those things that are the same, that are constant and good, and those are great) but growth and looks wise...it's a game changer.
Here's my 10 year change
I think this is 9th grade 'cause it's pre-braces=fangs and middle part...BEFORE the middle part was "in"
I think this is spring break sophomore year...found the side part and braces
Summer after freshman or soph year I think....I'm wearing overalls, so...
 and my 6 year change...
Now I obviously picked MY WORST pictures, there are a few decent ones in there somewhere I hope, but they were clouded by these goodies. I think I've finally accepted it, and that is the only reason they are now here for the world to see...acceptance.
Summer after Jr. year
(Note to self...don't take pictures of yourself, even if you are alone in the sacred grove. Also, just because you're wearing an Abercrombie shirt and dangle earrings and you're almost a senior, does not mean you can smirk with your greasy bangs. Ps- you look like your dad...LITERALLY)
This (below) is senior year....now stop-take your eyes off my adorable doe eyed, bowl-cut nephew and look at the boy to the right of him. I'm a senior here. A SENIOR! Wearing my retainers 'cause I'm around family, but Rach...COME ON! Is it that I can't open my eyes in pictures? That I learned the "chin down" thing too late?
Here Jillian is a PIRATE and she's owning the pic. I'm really trying here and I don't have braces...and still---not havin' it. Sigh.
OH---So THIS is why I never really knew what the word "boyfriend" meant or understood if any one was interested in me. Hmmm....glad I'm past it now.
YIKES. To all those who knew me then....thank you for liking me and being my friend and making me think I was the stuff, BUT also....NOT thank you for giving me the heads up that I was a strugglefest and pointing me in the direction of how I should have presented myself. I mean really. I now understand why I would dance over getting Brittany's hand me down's and having her dress me on the weekends. My scrapbooks are now laugh books and I think when I looked at them 4 years ago I still thought I was cool. I know better now. Thank goodness. I'm a different me. Mostly--I don't have fangs or braces, so that's an up, but most of the other parts of me I still have, I just have learned how to work it more. My apologies to the Rachel in ten years that looks at 2012 me and has the same comments. At least you know I'm always learning!

#2 Lately I've been loving my job. I work the front office at Dr. Groom's OBGYN and have been there for a couple months. I started on a whim just cause they needed someone in a bind, but it's been so great. I've liked having a schedule and making more money, but mostly I love the people I work with. I don't see people very much when I don't have a job, I'm kind of a home body and try to fill lots of time up with family. That's why having people I like at work is super. They're sometimes the only people besides Spencer that I talk to. I feel like there's a real good mix of people and they all keep me on my toes. Somehow too, we think the same things are funny. At least they pretend to laugh at the same things. I'm actually pretty sure they all think I'm crazy, BUT at least they humor me.

Mostly I like it because it makes me think a lot. Makes me an introvert. Gives me all different perspectives and outlooks from different types of people. Makes me feel intellectual. Makes me think a lot about how different peoples situations can be at different times in life. And I love it. Makes me feel like I can live vicariously through others, and some how it helps me grow a little.

-See my brain has been holding on to a lot of different random thoughts. More you say? More?
  - I sold my old/new iphone 4 for $350 dollars. Pocketed $200. Take that crappy screen breaking protection iPhone plan.
  - I have Neosporin all over my face right now, but have to blow my nose every other second, so the tube is gonna run out fast.
-I'm proud to say I've never watched a Vampire TV show, but I have watched the Twilights so...never mind.
-I FINALLY watched the last Harry Potter. Last weekend Speene and I had our own non-ABC Family Harry Potter weekend. We were both sick then so we watched the first 6 in 3 days. A week later, Friday, we watched the last one. I would say I feel complete. I never read the last book, so the movie was all I had to go off of. It was a lot to handle. Lots. But it was good and I feel like I finally stop plugging my ears when I hear "har-" anything. So that's a bonus for my life.
-I love the sunlight and delicious weather, I could take spring now please.
-I go to my home ward- I love it, but every week I can't decide if that makes me feel old or young.
-Anyone got any good shows Spence and I could watch on Netflix or something. We never stay up to date on current TV shows, but we love TV series to watch consistently every night. Recommendations? Favorites?

My brain wants to stop now. And my eyes.
Bye

October 2011

This picture was from Tally's family birthday night...some reason I don't have any of her. Looks like I love these two too much.
I went up to SLC for a week to help plan Nate and Kimi's wedding and got to see my talented lil sis-in-law Annie in her Halloween dance recital. She is seriously ridiculous at how good she is. Also she choreographed half the concert. She's good in all types of dance, but hip-hop...DANG girl. She is so swag and I adore watching her.

SISTERS
The proud fans
It ended in a Thriller dance...(also notice her flowers. My mother-in-law collected dead flowers for her bouquet....adorably creative)
Spence joined me up there for the weekend. We did pumpkin carving...ours was Harry Potter.
 My lovelies
I decided to throw a Murder mystery party in the 2 seconds we were there. We had to plan quick, but it was SUPER worth it. It was an 80's themes murder mystery party. Each character was someone that was famous or heard of from the 80's but the names were twisted around. The characters all had weird quirks and stories. Spencer was "Ivan Pingmold", CEO of Baqua Net Hairspray and flatulent/ghostbuster. I was his wife, "Polly Pingmold", the host and antisocial 'wannabe prom queen'.
 Rock star diva besties.
Lex = Melinda Parnile, lead singer of 'The No No No's'
Annie= Cat Fenafar, 'Rough and tough' pop guitarist and singer
Julie= Lany Lou Metton                                       Reege= Base Squealey
Julie was a kleptomaniac olympic gold medalist. She stole stuff and did this pose after everything Reege was a narcissistic front man of the 80's rock band "Hug". hewalked around with a mirror and sang random song. He was also a ladies man who flirted with everyone around.
 Power couple Nate and Kimi.
Nate=Turbozone Goobalo, 'wannabe famous' break dancer. He rhymed everything he said and was way too good at it.
Kimi= Kelly Goobalo was a narcoleptic ballerina/wannabe break dancer. I would turn around and she would be asleep in a random position. It was hilarious
Aunt Vickie: Bo Pontana the pro football star      Grandpa: Grandma: Fammy Taye
Gpa was a creepy television evangelist that was caught up in scandals. Gma was an over-emotional president of the Cat Fenafar fan club.
 The whole 80's motly Crew!
  "16 Candles" reenactment
I ended up being the murderer...the weapon--my rubix cube.
We got back to Vegas in time for Halloween where we threw these costumes on for the ward trunk or treat with the Leavitt's. A "super senior" and monkey guy.
She LOVES "spince", especially when the monkey mask is off.

 The proud parents
She wanted to be a real "scary" vampire. Not a pretty one. Curry made her fangs even!
 Games
My little angel baby cowgirl cutie
Rylee was a "sassy" 80's chick. Morgan was Tom Havaford from Parks and Rec "E720"
Giving/stealing candy for the trick or treaters.
 Daddy and daughters
October brought lots of parties and family, our favorite things.
