Probably not as bad as I think it is

It's me Spencer. For most of you who read this blog you probably don't know me that well. You most likely read this to keep a tab on Rach which is totally understandable I would probably follow her too if I didn't see her every day. I am going to let her keep filling you in on the ins and outs of our life because for one, I have nothing to say and more importantly two, I don't want to. I am sitting in our apartment listening to Rachel and Kimi have some random conversation about dudes peeing on the seat or something like that while I watch a random basketball game on the tv (Washington Wizards vs. Sacramento Kings, I have absolutely no interest in either team and somehow I watched the whole game). I was surfing the web when I wanted to write something that had nothing to do with school work because today I took a final today that consisted of 3 hours of constant writing. I have decided to write an entry every once in awhile on what I am thinking at the moment. If you don't care what I have to say don't read this.

What's got me peeved at the moment is people. What I am most excited about for the holiday season is for all the people that get to go home for the Christmas break. For the last two weeks all I have heard is how people are so ready to leave Utah because they hate this place so much or they think it's so boring. I am so happy for those people that "get" to leave this place that they apparently can't stand. Enjoy the break guys and take this with you...get over yourselves. If you hate Utah so bad why are you here? In most cases no one is forcing you to be here, no one has a gun to your head. I know that Utah is not New York or L.A. or even Chicago or anything close to it but is Utah really that bad? The other day I overheard someone say "I am physically sick living here in Utah, it's nothing like where I'm from, I gotta get out of here." Seriously moron? Utah is physically causing you to be ill? Yes we are at somewhat of a higher elevation and the weather can be quite cold but making you sick? Sorry that we all don't get to live in Orange County, i'm sure its awesome there but I don't decide to live in San Diego and then say this place blows but i'm going to keep living here and make sure everyone I talk to knows how much I hate it here and even though its not that bad I need to prove how cool I am and how much they know I hate it here. The greatest thing about this is that LDS people are the ones that are saying this. You guys are right, Utah does not have a party scene whatsoever but I hear these comments the very most on the beloved campus of BYU. Last time I checked you went to a school with a folk dance team, BYU students aren't that cool and there is a strong possibility that the Utah haters are going to go home and do the same thing they would here but since its Utah they are so miserable. Look, I don't want to live in Utah my entire life, in fact I am looking forward to living somewhere else and experiencing new sights and sounds but I have chosen to live in Utah right now and life is as good as you make it. Enjoy the break Utah haters because I will be here waiting for you, ready to hear how awesome everywhere else but Utah is, but that you have still chosen to live here. All my ranting comes down to this simple piece of advice...if you don't like where you live, move. Until next time...

p.s. I hope people comment on this because I would like to hear the real reasons why Utah is so bad. I was born here so I am naturally biased but if you hate the Beehive State I want to know why. Again my beef is not with people who don't like Utah it's those who hate Utah and choose to live here.

spencer i completely adored your post!! i only lived in provo for 3 months and i actually really loved the weather and how pretty it is but i was not a fan of the people. maybe it would be better now that i'm married.. but in my experience, no guy would talk to you unless you seemed like marriage material and no girl would talk to you because every girl is a potential threat from keeping her from getting a husband. so.. i moved back to lovely las vegas. :) where i grew up next door to the beautiful girl your married to.

p.s. you guys are super cute.

Spencer, I do believe that is the most I have ever heard you say on one topic. I look forward to future posts. As for Utah, I love it there, it's so beautiful I think I'll buy a house there.

people that think they're too cool for utah is what makes utah so un-cool.

i would always wonder why people were so grumpy too? maybe it's because the men feel like their manhood that they've been working SO hard their whole lives to grow is taken away with the exception of the golden 'beard card'
must be it. have you considered passing out a temporary fix to that... like a washable marker with instructions of how to draw your own facial hair.
-might ease some of the pain their egos are facing?

ps. im so glad your wife has this little blog so you can vent your frustrations. she's a keeper.

I think I'm the reason that michelle girl didn't like Utah. why waste words on a girl that's not marriage material? I'm just saying...*sarcasm please don't hate me*
3 reasons why Utah sucks-
1. The Mailman was the beginning of the end for the Reign Man
2. I seem to get Backne (Acne on the back) a lot more here in this state...maybe it's because of all the beehives everywhere.
3. It definitely sucks because of the "classless" people. I mean, I don't dump beer on Max Hall's family often...But when I do...It's dos equis. Stay classy my friend

Spencer that was amazing!! I was a Utah hater, but now Utah haters annoy me. I'm in Orange County for Christmas and its actually weird for me, because there's no snow and i'm flipping out. Good point, everyone says Utah is so boring, but when you're mormon what are you going to do differently somewhere else? As for why Utah stinks, my beef is that i get acne in the wintertime. that would probably happen anywhere else that gets cold and dry in the winter though...please keep posting that was amazing.

YEAH!!! the PASSION of the Spencer!!! I love it and totally agree with it all. I loved everything you wrote until you got to the part about living in Orange County. Then I realized when you wrote this and that we recetly vactioned together, and I thought, "I hope none of this was directed at the Anaheim Taylors." I hope we said nothing on our most recent rendezvouszvouzes to offend the Utah Gods. I loved living there, and I was also frequently bugged by people who thought they were too cool for school- too cool for their own school. If you hate it so much, go somewhere else! Have some freaking pride in your school and where you live. Don't be a hater just to be a hater. I remember it was frequently the California native Cougars who drank the Haterade. Yes, Orange County is great for a bunch of reason, but so is Utah. Everywhere has it pros, so enjoy those and don't focus on the cons- nation of negatories. Out- GO COUGANS!!!

Spencer dont even get me started haha just kidding. All those people probably have no choice, their parents probably forced them up to BYU. But i will admit, its better when you just make the most out of it!
But i was out of there the first chance i got.
school-check... see ya utah.
its just different there, and not in a bad way, Americans just dont like change. and also the sun not shining for so long makes people GRUMPY!
